    Pure doo-doo. I give it a HALF-STAR just because it was a movie released in theatres and I was able to attend. Just felt like a great mishandling of the subject matter. What could've been an important cultural urban legend felt like a popcorn folly fail.

    Was turned onto this film by a colleague after telling him I was writing my own PHROGGING film. He said, "Oh, dude, you gotta check out I SEE YOU" if you're doing Home Invasion. Well, around the 45 minute mark, I pretty much trashed any idea that I had, as this flick was checking off most of the boxes. Compelling. Captivating. Layers and layers of twists and turns.     This movie is perfection. To me, Jared made the movie that most embodies his sense of style, humor and tone. It's easily quotable. Original and indelible characters. It's a simple story with a powerful message about the complexities of drive, grief, envy and friendship. I will return to Letterboxd and revise this review, to give it the glory and praise that it deserves, as this is one of the most important films to EVER (yes, I said it) exist. To quote Dr. Ronald Chevalier, "May the glistening chrome of the Borg Queen shed her light upon us all. Amen."

    I love Mark Duplass. I do not love "Mumblecore". Nor do I care if the filmmakers grouped into said genre accept, like or don't like the term. Calling a film "Mumblecore", I find to be an easy cop out, to blame it on the budget, lack of action, stunts, production value or set design.
