I'm convinced that the Janet Leigh character is written in there just for the sake of baffling literally everybody. She's so hilariously random, almost like a joke. Overall, I thought the premise was much more interesting than the execution.

Touch of Evil 1958
Those arresting visuals. Just wow. Even if the story was a flop (which it most certainly isn't), the "guy having way too much fun with a camera" vibes alone make it worthy of being classed among the greats. Although, to be honest, the constant "artiness" is almost distracting—the film almost comes across as too bold and in-your-face. Overall, it reminded me a bit of what might happen if a Cormac McCarthy novel crashed into Psycho.
