Vox Lux 2018
Quick thoughts:
After watching The Brutalist, I got intrigued to check out Brady Corbet's previous film, Vox Lux. It is interesting to see him tackle the themes of tragedy and trauma in a different setting. He does also demonstrate levels of taste and clinicality, which sometimes leave me a little cold in this movie in particular. Still, it is an interesting enough take on the rise of a pop star story.

I finally reached 1000 entries on Letterboxd! I made my good friend Karlamon choose what I'd watch for my 1000th entry, and he picked this movie! It was cool to see the TMNT franchise getting a modern cinematic animation treatment. It was good, corny, endearing fun.

Quick thoughts:
I would say this is a very compelling courtroom drama that uses that framework to explore a failing marriage between two very flawed people. It's a movie about how real life events don't necessarily always fit a neat and tidy narrative. It's also interesting that we're able to see how the son processes the revelations about his parents' private lives. He is forced to confront ugly truths that he was shielded from when he was younger. It is intriguing to think about how a child comes to understand the problems their struggling parents face. Very riveting movie.
