very conflicted about this! part one is a magisterial epic that reaches the crescendo of the (in movie) intermission so strongly that I was practically floating out of the cinema buzzing for part two. I can't emphasise enough how much I was primed to make this my movie of the year.
then we hit part two and it just totally flounders lol. the writing really craters and tanks the movie with it. which is a big shame because I think…
enjoyed the sound and how it was all shot. it all felt loud and quite visceral but it might well the dumbest movie i’ll see all year. the dialogue is maybe the worst i’ve heard in a movie in ages. it’s giving “the menu”
eta: no it’s giving saltburn. i don’t understand the central conceit. it starts off suggesting they’re the same people but then it becomes clear they’re two different people
so what does demi moore get out of it? nothing! doesn’t work, sorry
