There really is nobody else who makes films like Bong Joon-ho. And there’s no more adventurous actor alive right now than Robert Pattinson. Truly an actor-director match made in heaven, on a beautifully weird and existential sci fi drama that’s somehow gorgeous, hilarious, and messy all at once. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

This watch definitely unlocked a few things I missed on initial viewing. Namely, the subtle character building done throughout by Yura Borisov and the shifts in style of the film in each act. It’s very cool to see subtlety rewarded and Borisov has one of the more subtle Oscar nominated performances in some time, one that rewards paying closer attention to his character. And the style of each act of the film makes viewing a unique experience and adds to the impact of the ending. It will likely make a great addition to the Best Picture canon.

This movie is insane and I wish more movies were this insane. Emerald Fennell has me Forever.

Yorgos Lanthimos, Tony McNamara, and Emma Stone have done it again! An existential comedic sci-fi fable that dares to play with themes of autonomy, sexuality, and self-discovery in ways I’ve never seen done cinematically. Emma Stone’s fearlessness and commitment shine through above all else, however, and her performance alone is reason to see this.
