Incredibly contrived. Styles’ performance made me laugh many times, and the poorly written dialogue did not help. Pugh shines through, but she plays a similar role in a better movie.

What can I say about War Dogs, Scorsese’s bastard spawn? Well, watching it is like buying a knockoff Rolex for the same price as a Rolex. It’s a testament to unoriginality too in that its score includes every canned cliche song in its two hour runtime - 31 in all! - except of course for Gimme Shelter, the main song used in its trailer. These songs are played primarily over monologues by Miles Teller. There’s “show, don’t tell” and then there’s “tell, because I have no imagination”. The second applies here.
