The Dark Knight 2008
Probably the greatest superhero movie ever made and that ever will be made. People will always praise Heath Ledger’s Joker and compare future iterations, and rightfully so. The movie encapsulates and probably is the inspiration for DC’s desire to approach superhero stories from a darker and grittier perspective to differentiate from Marvel’s more easily digestible films. That being said this was still a hugely popular movie, as was the Joker, but I think this type of film appeals more to viewers like me (read: snobby)
