The “twist” fits well within the message of the film. Certainty surely was an enemy here.

I’m actually quite shocked at how scattered this story is. Cummings, with THUNDER ROAD, had a finesse with his story that frankly is just missing here. Killer has no motive, the cops have minimal action and do very little except quip at each other for levity in a horror setting. The A story is unfinished and the B story just doesn’t make sense.
