  this is suchhh a sweet story that really spoke to me at this time in my quarter life crisis. It transports you to ‘90s small city Japan in sweltering summer heat as the loveable youth navigates boredom, first love and her uncertain, searching self. A gem by director yoshifumi kondo <3

  wanted to give it 5 stars because of how visceral it felt with the humorous, explosive, and tender acting/scenes bringing these characters to life. The whole theatre was reeling at the end. I did love it, but exploration of themes and characters are kept reductive to focus on other ways of making the film impactful so it feels unrealistic in its portrayal. I guess that was the point dehumanising her and it drives home sympathy for the character. a solid movie that took me on a wild journey

  I was somewhat enjoying the promise of a fresh script until it flopped. Halfway through and it wasn’t moving anywhere and then all of a sudden we’re supposed to believe she’s in love with a guy named Chad. They fumbled the premise and the messaging felt so klunky. Best part of the movie was the Bieber performance
