I feel like there’s a lot of story that they skipped over for the first time jump. There’s a part where two of the kids are talking about the moment they knew their dad wasn’t coming back. For me, that’s an essential part of the story that the movie essentially glosses over.

It’s like Jon Watts read everyone’s gripes with the MCU Spider-Man and wrote this movie with the goal of correcting all of them.
