That ruled, what a cool film. A dark tale of how war can destroy your soul, even if you’re the one tending the home front. Visceral and beautiful, you almost feel like you’re stuck in the wet grass reeds while watching it. Beautifully shot the whole way through, especially the night scenes, the blackness feels like it could swallow everything in a heartbeat. And what a climax, it’s a slow burn that absolutely erupts when it comes together at the end.

Juliet of the Spirits 1965
Extremely eerie film, it never quite feels threatening but it feels creepy in the same way that dreams can feel creepy, like a darker counterpart to how I felt about 8 1/2. Beautiful colours, excellent score. And once again Giullietta Masina shines like a star. Very good film

Stargate 1994
Just pure schlocky 90s sci-fi fun. My inner child is satisfied knowing this still holds up as decent entertainment. It’s not Jurassic Park or Independence Day by any means but it holds its own by my estimation. It’s fun to look at and if you don’t think about the details too much it executes on a good sci-fi concept fairly well.
James Spader has absolutely awful hair in this. This did not detract from the film.
