I wanted to rate this higher for Robert Pattinson alone but couldn’t bring myself to do it. While I think Mickey himself is an amazing character(s), many of the other characters mostly frustrate me. Aside from the obvious ones like Marshall and Yifa, many of the other characters seem to have little development and seem to lack enough defining traits that can set them apart as unique and/or likable. I think the story here is engaging and (mostly) original, but it does seem similar to Bing Joon-ho’s other English-language films in the way that it lacks the character depth of his Korean films.

Swing Girls 2004
This movie is so sweet. Seeing these girls jump through every obstacle in their path just so they can play music makes it so easy to root for them. Genuinely did not stop smiling the entire time I watched this. Only bummer is I had to watch it on YouTube and the jackass who posted it had ad breaks, one of which took place right in the middle of the fucking final scene. That guy can kick rocks.

One of those movies where you put it on because it could have been interesting and only finished it because you realized you were too far in to just turn it off.
For some reason, it’s a musical. And the music is terrible. Every set looks fake and not in a fun way. The story is terrible and the characters are worse. There is virtually nothing redeeming about this movie. And to make it all worse, someone decided that this forgettable shit-show should be nominated for 13 Oscars. What a fucking joke.
