  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 1937

  Some scenes go on for way too long. Much ado about washing up for dinner for example. But everything looks so lush and detailed and the scary parts are genuinely terrifying. Since it’s a time before test screening and busy body parenting, the villain gets to be scary and the story gets to be genuinely sad and dark. It gets to have an edge that doesn’t come around too often in animated movies aimed at children.
