Bong Joon Ho attempts the not-so-easy balancing act between blockbuster and arthouse cinema and definitely delivers a highly entertaining sci-fi film, which also has some great acting performances to offer. Despite all the fun I had at the movie theater, it's noticeable that Joon Ho's storytelling isn't exactly subtle and often remains too superficial, especially with some supporting characters. There would certainly have been potential for more, although this director still delivers a certain quality you will search for in vain in other major productions.

Berlinale 2025 – Special Gala/Opening film
I really appreciate what Tom Tykwer is trying to do here, but unfortunately he fails more often than he succeeds. The Light is ambitious – often too ambitious – and features a cast of actors whose performances are not always that convincing. In the end, the movie does have its moments, but Lars Eidinger's singing performance is definitely not part of them.

Leave the World Behind 2023
If there's one thing we've obviously learned from this movie, it's how valuable physical media is!!!
