    Another lovely film from the master director.

    Although its themes of loneliness and yearning for contact are apt, I felt at times this was too telegraphed and forced through the use of imagery and its score.

    Great to see a Tarantino film with a female lead taking centre-stage. It’s a little convoluted and takes its time getting set up, but this does set the foundation for memorable characters and performances. 

    Not your typical Tarantino with its lack of hyper-violence, but in many ways it’s not out of place in his filmography, with its acid-tongued dialogue, fantastic soundtrack and of course feet shots.

    On re-watch, it does feel like Hitch revelled in Mark’s controlling treatment of Marnie’s trauma as an experiment for him to solve. This makes Marnie such an unsettling watch.

    And while some parts haven’t aged well, there’s enough there in its hypnotic execution to make Marnie a character worth understanding.

    Everything about Oppenheimer is BIG, which fits the subject matter perfectly. Nolan sets up the film in the first 45 minutes at a frantic pace switching between time periods.

    Once we get into the heart of the film, we are treated to a visual and sonic spectacle of grand proportions.
