  Went in blind with low expectations (not sure why they were low) and absolutely loved this film. It made me wish this film existed when I was a girl. It’s adventurous, funny, quirky, and colorful. A brilliant score and great performances by all. Emotional at times, ridiculous at times, surprisingly violent and action-filled at times. Amongst all the storytelling were plenty life lessons for girls (and boys!). From breaking down gender stereotypes to family relationships to a blooming, realistic romance. Everything felt age appropriate and fresh- the story was imaginative and exciting, yet it didn’t feel ridiculously over the top. Just delightful.
