  We don't remember anything about what happened in the movie but we remember the immense sadness while leaving the theatre

  First time I saw this on Christmas I was 5 years old and in march earlier that year my grandfather passed away... His name was also Nils just like the old man (played by Per Oscarsson) and I think my mom made me watch it at the perfect time because it helped me understand that loss didn't have to be all sadness but also an appreciation of the life shared!
