  Fun time. I didn't watch this movie. I was in the movie. I don't know what was happening either. Gorgeous animation and artwork and living, breathing ecosystems of characters both on and off screen. Once again the Ghibli tradition of accidentally falling into a world that's larger than oneself and equally incomprehensible. The less fantastical elements felt a bit weak to me but hey ho idk how a child would interact with his stepmother.

  "this is only the beginning."

  I enjoyed Dune PART ONE!

  I appreciate a movie that's clearly just set-up that feels like it's promising a bombastic sequel.
  othing crazy crazy happens in this movie - and that's okay <3

  Unfortunately I did not watch this the way the filmmakers intended (thanks, Netflix!) but I look forward to Part Two.

  Visually and sonically stunning. Clearly an allegory for Western Imperialism with plenty of inspiration from South-West Asia & North African cultures.
  Clearly the film respects the audience's intelligence which is maybe my favourite takeaway from this.

  Looking forward to watching Part two later this week.
