  Benefit of the doubt might suggest this being some delicately tongue in cheek pastiche. However, I think Kerrigan really means it, even if I can’t say I believe there’s anything going on beneath the surface. The urbane, affectless mood scratches a certain itch.

  Pleasantly surprised. The pacing kind of brings it down, but I liked the characters and the last twenty minutes are legitimately satisfying. Has real emotional weight. This movie is on the verge of being great. Especially enjoyed Steve Buscemi as the ruthless, minimalist hitman.

  This genre blending satire might be the Finnegan’s Wake of New Hollywood. There’s not a single mediocre line of dialogue, every syllable at the service of the wild, uneven narrative. This is the definition of “go in blind”. It’s entertaining, but puzzling.
