Still prefer Bong’s Korean films to his American ones but this might be my favorite of the latter group. Robert Pattinson is just so fantastic, the things he does with his face and body are so captivating. Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette too (i disagree with everyone hating on both of their performances). Bong’s storytelling is singular, even if I have some issues with the plotting and pacing. Yes the commentary is on the nose — it’s a style! I can appreciate the commitment to one.

SXSW Day 1:
Is it too early to call this my favorite film of the festival? I’ve never seen queer and trans bodies shown with such radical liberation on a big screen. It’s gay. It’s Western. It’s rooted in family, blood and found. I can’t wait for everyone to see this.
Side bar: The cast and crew (the loveliest people w/ fantastic chemistry) invited me to their afterparty. How fun! Who knew I would be cutting a rug with Robyn Lively, the Teen Witch herself!
