As much of an emotional burden this film has on me. This piece of incredible cinema, since my initial viewing has extensively influenced my life. Writing this on my yearly viewing all I can say is how this film so slightly increases in relatability and significance the further I age. Maybe it’s because of my neurotic nature but regardless of what it might be, what’s for sure is Iwai’s story has been ingrained into the very fabric of my soul.
