The Shooting 1966
Neat to see a murder-mystery style western. I liked the premise: a manhunt on the trail. It features horses so much more prominently: their health, the mundane saddling, their stamina towards the end.
This movie seemed to use missing information for much of its storytelling. At first it was done well. But it seemed less natural and enjoyable towards the end. It felt more arbitrary. I think this was evidenced by the flat ending. We had an uninteresting fight scene…

Very cool to see Marlon Brando’s only directorial credit. A fun story of a rivalry coming to a head. Loved the central coast of CA setting. So gorgeous.
Early on the police shoot an unarmed, fleeing suspect. Depiction of law enforcement only goes downhill from there.
Our very horrible sheriff (Dad) says “I knew you’d be coming sooner or later. I’m glad you came.” This reminds me of @Aerosmooth’s comment on the paranoia of greed in Sierra Madre, see also…
