  Very pretty, not so scary. Lilly Rose Depp steals the show. Hard to catch your breath at times. Maybe that’s a type of horror in its own right. I enjoyed the experience.

  Visually stunning. Plot was interesting. Dialogue was corny and stiff far too often. My biggest gripe is the lack of meaningful character moments that justify the growth and change in perspective that Lucius goes through. It felt like the writers did a lot of “and then” rather than “because” when planning how characters will change. 

  Denzel Washington is fantastic. 

  Enjoyable film. Not particularly great.

  A herculean epic exploring legacy, loyalty, disappointment, family and the pain of never feeling good enough. The father’s obsession with his career and inability to accept his own shortcomings thrusts the Van Erich family into the throes of addiction, self destruction and suffering. Each and every scene of this film is beautifully shot and so much of the motion resembles sculptures that I’ve seen only in museums. I loved this film. It was deeply moving.
