Look, is Demonlover playing with ironies surrounding the modern commercialization of liscivious and occasionally repugnant subject matter by focusing it through a slick corporate intrigue, titillating neo-noir framing? Sure. Do those observations sustain its lackluster plotting and sardonic ending? No, I didn't find so.

The Wages of Fear 1953
Visually powerful and wonderfully tense. There’s a scene later on where one character is rolling tobacco and some information is visually conveyed to the audience which I just love. And the politics of race and gender at the margins of this story are quite interesting, though again are really only at the margins.
Maybe a good first date movie too, as it turns out

Where Dreams Go To Die 2017
This doc succeeded in two things: 1) Making me want to approximate just one loop of the Barkley to really appreciate the scope of this challenge, and 2) Causing an intense jealousy of the Robbins’ supportive relationship.
