I cannot for the life of me actually understand where the appeal of this movie comes from beyond its comedic value. The Substance 2024
I think the message of this movie was lost in it being solely about celebrity culture and beauty standards. Had Demi Moore’s character been a normal person with a 9-5 who stumbles upon The Substance and gets trapped in it, I think it could’ve been more accessible and impactful. Not to say the message was weak, but I think the celebrity aspect limits it to JUST that.
