Marvel Studios continues its "mid and meh" era with this one -- but I totally love its blatant subtext of being othered -- specifically Black -- in America and how you have to be "on point" at all times or you fail. I wanted them to dig deeper, but it got buried in a "Manchurian Candidate" storyline as well as a bromance between two angry scorned white men (one being the president of the united states, the other a gamma-mutated genius) making their beef everyone's problem. This "Captain America" does too much because Marvel Studios does too little.

MONKEY MAN is a chaotic crowd pleasin' action pic that is hella dramatic -- but don't worry. It's still bloody and violent as all hell -- and it's kinda campy and kinda soapy. There is a lot going on... but once you see a blood-drenched Dev Patel find creative ways to stab a man, you just sit back and enjoy it.
