Technically the first Bollywood movie I've ever watched, and what I can say is Bollywood is literally live action anime. Everything is larger than life, and it's amazing! It opened my mind to go check out other Bollywood movies to learn more about what can be possible in filmmaking and storytelling.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I can say this movie is the closest to what a comic book felt to me as a kid: an inconsequential, yet entertaining story about weird characters clashing together in a colorful, bizarre world. It's not the best Marvel movie, sure, but it wasn't that bad either.
Jonathan Majors really brought his A-game in portraying this version of Kang. Some say the ending could've been better, which I agree, but my hopes are up to see in a future installment…
Really cool choices in the cinematography, it really emphasized the character's journey.
The start of the movie is very artsy-fartsy, but I really loved the scene with Mads Mikkelsen, it really took the story home for me. Their conversation back and forth about religion, purpose, and the harsh truth of Vincent's (Willem Dafoe) life as a painter was beautifully written and portrayed.
The ending really sobered the movie for me, the fact that this is a story of a real man made it even sadder.
