Lost in Translation 2003
I don’t understand the hype for this movie. Essentially it’s just an hour and a half of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansen having an emotional affair in Tokyo, whilst they’re slightly racist to the locals around them.
Some of the cinematography is gorgeous though, so I’ll give it that.

(500) Days of Summer 2009
I’m not sure how to feel about this film. Like, both main characters are kind of insufferable….but also, that’s kind of the point?? Summer is a ‘manic pixie dream girl’ and Tom is a classic example of the toxic ‘nice guy’.
Side notes because I think they have to be mentioned:
•The “expectation vs reality scene” is shot exceptionally well and is a very good bit of camera work.
•The flipping back and forth between all 500 days I personally didn’t mind, but I understand why some can find it quite jarring.
• Although annoying characters, the performances by the actors are very good.Translated from by -
