  This film looks great and reminds me at times of Italian neorealist cinema, it’s got great performances and production, but the plot just jumps all over the place in the second half and the epilogue feels cheap and unsatisfying. Really thought this film was going to be something to stand the test of time but not sure it’s worth a rewatch in case there are bits missed the first time. Nice that it has a good style and some really cracking shots in there but swing and a miss overall.

  Big fan of long films with intermissions though, appreciated that.
