I rewatch this movie once a year, and somehow I always forget how perfect it is.

It's a live action looney tune with heart. Every bit of dialogue serves the characters and the plot while doubling (tripling?) as a joke, from the opening lines ("The first time I met Ed was in the county lockup in Tempe, Arizona... a day I'll never forget.") to the last ("Maybe it was Utah").

Everything visually is perfect, that even in today's films, I'm…

This movie gave me the worst nightmares as a kid. I hadn't seen it in years and always feared that the larva baby would give me nightmares even as an adult.
    Turns out, no.

This movie is about aging. Maybe to you it's about aids, or disease. I just got hearing aids, and that's what this feels like. This is the first time a Cronenberg body horror really felt personal. When Brundle is becoming Not-brundle, and he narrates it like…

Probably a better film on a second viewing. After almost every scene I was like, well I understood what they said but wtf is happening?

And then the next scene would come and Id be like oh I guess that makes sense.

Just too much going on the first time.

The first 45 minutes of this movie, when it's a thriller? That movie's incredible.

The final hour of this movie, where it's a horror? That movie's fine.

I wish this was as good as the 5 star reviews claim it was, and I find those thoughts to be a little revealing.

The first half the movie ("part 1") is so uneven, so forced, and outright unclever at times that it's... it would've worked better as a 5-10 minute SNL sketch than it does as more than an hour of film. The second half ("part 2") is actually quite good, and the mini-finale ('part 3") serves its purpose…

"It's John Wick with a Pig."
Sure. It's John Wick, if instead of formerly being a hit man, John Wick was the most sensitive person on fucking earth.

I am a grown thirty two year old homeowner who saw this movie alone on a Friday night and cried four times in the movie theater and the entire fifteen minute drive home.
