  I remembered thinking parts of this film were a bit cringe but I thought it might hit different after my own experience visiting my hometown for my mother's funeral. It did not.

  The beginning of this movie has an interesting juxtaposition of the practical and the emotional, and I can't dislike anyone because ultimately the renderer is doing the most practical and reasonable thing, and yet I also feel so strongly with these people who love their pets and want to lay them to rest in a loving way.

  I enjoyed the human drama in the second half, the elder brother reminded me of the dad in Little Miss Sunshine.

  This was just a film of odd but likeable people who sincerely hope to see their pets again someday, and I can understand that.
