Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to see why Forest Whitaker won best actor. That was an insane performance and an even crazier film. All of the acting, especially Whitaker and McAvoy, was 10/10. I appreciated how the film incorporated real events during Amin’s regime while still being able to tell its own story. Didn’t need to do my girl Kerry like that tho, that was hella random and excessive.

Conclave 2024
Maybe my expectations were a little too high, but I felt a little disappointed when the movie ended. The acting, casting, soundtrack, and plot are all highlights. I can’t seem to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with Conclave, I think I was just expecting more. Still worth a watch. Spoiler: I totally called that the eventual new pope would get elected when he first showed up and I’m proud of myself.

In terms of actually scaring you, this movie lived up to the hype. There were some genuinely disturbing and memorable scenes. Nicholas Cage’s character was creative and oddly perfectly cast. The rest of the acting, particularly from Maika Monroe, was amazing. The cinematography and style of directing made you uncomfortable but in a creepy horror movie way. (Spoiler) I’m not a fan of something supernatural being responsible for the murders and felt like the movie would’ve been a lot better…

Singing was a no for me dawg. One or two of those scenes would’ve been fine, but by the end of the movie I was rolling my eyes whenever someone started singing. Remove the songs and this is easily 4 stars. Acting, writing, directing were all fantastic, I just don’t know why this had to be a musical. I respect Todd for trying, but he had to have known this wouldn’t hit with the general public. Disappointed but still worth a watch.
