Honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything good, since my father, notorious for picking Irish or catholic movies that are soporific at best, chose it randomly, but this was a pretty decent movie. There was pretty much no overt plot, just a lot of light, feel-good content. While substance was scattered throughout the movie, again, there wasn’t really much plot, although there were subtle developments and nuances throughout. The characters were pretty fleshed out, and enough background was revealed about them to make them likeable. While it essentially consisted of vignettes and slice-of-life moments, it was an overall good movie, and an easy one to watch.

This was a movie I had wanted to see for a while, and it delivered very well. The cinematography and music were great, and the car racing was incredible. The shots at Le Mans, especially in the rain, were beautiful. Shelby and Miles are a great pair, and I thought they were very natural, especially again the suits of Ford. Their underdog story against the company was rather compelling, and despite eventually caving to the corporation, they got the drive…

I really enjoyed this movie. The music and cinematography were both incredible, and it was a very well-made movie. It blurred the lines between fantasy and reality very well, and in a way that encapsulated the message of the film. The transitions and contrasts were set up very well, and although it may not have been totally historically accurate, I thought it hit the main historical points that it covered very well. Overall, it was incredible and a great watch.

Barry Lyndon is a slow yet somewhat interesting tale of arrogance. Barry himself goes from the likable and interesting hero seeking a station, to the rather proud and foolish man always trying to improve the station he has. The movie was very slow, but the music and costumes made it at least passable to watch in the downtime. The narration was good and provided the necessary details to stitch the scenes together. Despite being somewhat predictable, it had some twists and tenseness throughout, with some humor. Overall, I would not watch it again, but it was an good movie, if you can stand the slowness.
