I love this movie so much but it really just has 0 faith in the viewers ability to piece it together and watch it with any sort of careful attention. Possibly the least subtle movie of all time, not that it doesn’t include some cool subtle hints (i.e. “HELL” on the subway in the beginning), but it more often than not just goes “Wow Jacob, it’s almost like you’re DEAD or something 👀”. Sometimes hard to gauge the extent of Michael Ian Black’s sarcasm; some of these jokes are funny and some are so unfunny that they loop back around towards clear anti-humor, and then there’s this odd grey area where I can’t tell if a joke is intentionally bad or just dated and bad.
