When I was 7 yrs old I remember staying up w my sister to watch the live coverage in the Vatican of the 2005 conclave. A hugely exciting moment for me as a very serious young boy.

Visually a very satisfying film. Not even being facetious but it could have been even more Catholic in theme.

About 5 mins of backstory (if that) and then it’s bang straight into some good bread and butter action. Good pace and tension. Brainless in a very rewarding way.

    ChatGPT take it away:

To Die For by Gus Van Sant absolutely slays from start to finish. Nicole Kidman is serving pure *cunt* as Suzanne Stone, the cold-blooded, fame-obsessed weather girl who’ll do anything for the spotlight. The film is a wickedly sharp satire, slaying every moment with dark humor and clever writing. The cast is top-notch, with Kidman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Matt Dillon all delivering slay-worthy performances. The costumes? On point. The cinematography? Absolutely slays with its slick and stylish approach.

A killer film. 4 stars out of 5.

Such a perfect and intense, relentless performance from Marianne Jean-Baptiste that the silence of the last 25 mins or so hangs heavy.

Amazing performances from (almost) everyone else too. The younger sisters were a bit “how’s Trish?” at points.

My first but not my last Mike Leigh!
