Wither at the endddd ahhhhhh, I was listening to this song all week this film fed my soul. Of course stage to film adaptations leave a little to be desired but this had life and the score gave it breath from Fela Kuti to the cast singing Berta Berta - reminding me of the first time I listened to the Alan Lomax tapes. I have nothing sophisticated to say, this was a film that I needed this year with its story branching out connecting time, grief, hope and promise.

The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes 2022
This was okay, quite similar to Your Name. I loved to see a female protag after years of watching shoujo anime/reading shoujo manga be as direct as this one was, kind of thinking about that as a bit of a generational shift, in conversation with more traditional tropes. I loved the texts, and the overall theme of grief and the passage of time used for this! It was solid, a little dry but not bad for what it was.
