What a film. Incredibly deft in the emotional buildup. I went into this with no prior knowledge of the plot which ended up being the perfect match for the structure. Learning that the daughter was trying to piece together memories / grief of her father through these home videos and Polaroids at the climax of the movie created an emotional bomb that left me ruined for hours after viewing.

Very fun watch no doubt. Maybe my expectations were too high. There were about 45 minutes worth of scenes in this movie that felt unnecessary. Visually spectacular but felt like i just saw the same movie again. Is that what prequels are ?

Under the Silver Lake 2018
This is like if a USC film school graduate got to make a movie just so they can jerk themselves off to it every week. The general theme is vapid and extremely LA- meta, which at first comes off as satire until you realize they genuinely mean it. Nobody has ever cared about Californians. Dec amount of titties tho. This film only had an $8 million budget and it lost $6 million, lol.
