Every now and then, two people in the entertainment world find each other and work together so well, it’s hard to think of them as ever having worked apart. This fun, witty rom-com romp fits nicely into a 90 minute running time. Unfortunately, the plot is stretched thinner than Irma’s stockings to fit the actual, 2.5 hour running time. It really could have been so much better if they had snipped a scene here, a conversation there, and a few completely absurd contrivances strung throughout.

A podcaster suggested that PoG should have won the Best Picture Oscar over The Bridge on the River Kwai, which was released in the same year. I hadn't seen PoG, so... challenge accepted. Not very impressive Hitchcock film with two of my favorite Hitchcock actors. Grant and Kelly spend an inordinate amount of time flirting while nothing else happens. The sound work was atrocious, with spoken dialogue being dubbed over closed mouths.
