Death by Hanging was an interesting film, but I was left confused by some parts. For example, I wasn't sure if R's sister was real or not, or if he ever had a sister. Another thing that was hard to comprehend was how R believed he wasn't guilty, despite admitting to murdering the girls. I would describe Black God, White Devil as a strange film. Certain parts about the style had me thrown off. One was the singing narrator, especially when Manoel's mother is killed by the mercenaries. Based on American movies I've seen, I could logically assume that the scene would include sad music in the background, likely without vocals.
