I found both of the lead characters of this immensely unpleasant people, which normally isn’t a disqualifying metric for a film, but for a “romcom” it might be. Now I absolve Dreyfuss because he’s being genuine life to his shithead character, but Marsha Mason, an actress I have no history with and as I read her wiki page was nominated for 4 Oscar’s between 1973 & 1981, gives a performance as dull as the character she’s playing. I almost want to watch the other three of her Oscar nominated parts just to check if there’s any pulse in there anyway.

To Be or Not to Be 1942
It’s very funny that America was immediately making fun of Hitler well before we knew we’d win the war.

Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai 1999
I do like those ice-cold Melville films, but they’re always riding a fine line between riveting and dry. Ghost Dog plays clever homage to those films while pumping silly life in, whether that be Whitaker holstering his silenced pistols like samurai swords, unleashing Isaach De Bankolé, or having a Italian mobster rap along to Flavor Flav. Fantastic piece of art, RZA is a god, shoutout to Jarmusch for having the balls to toss all these ingredients into a pot and cooking up a great big stew of a film.

Stop Making Sense 1984
“No, no sure, you can do a song without me, that isn’t a problem in the slightest. We can just toss the Tom Tom Club after the 1-2 punch of This Must Be The Place and Once In a Lifetime and then, after y’all are done having your little playtime without me, I’ll come out in this awesome big suit and bring down the fucking house to Girlfriend is Better. Cool, cool, great, love this idea everybody. I’m definitely not an asshole.”
- David Byrne (probably)
Side note: IMAX screens are large
