    I really wanted to like this more than I did because I love this period of NYC history, love the soundtrack, and love Richard Hell but there are too many problems that drag it down.

    Abel Ferrara is becoming one of my favorite directors in a way someone like Samuel Fuller does. Does he create perfect, high concept cinema? No and thank God because that would be boring.

    Ferrara synthesizes many influences ranging from genre schlock to Catholicism to exploitation to a view of New York that's the most compelling thing you'll see this side of Scorsese.

    This to me is the culmination of Lynch's decades of work. If it does indeed end up being his final film, it's an appropriate one because there really isn't anywhere for him to go after this.
