    The writing is almost profoundly stupid, almost stupefying. Suffers your usual 'we must tell an origin story, otherwise how will the audience know how he came to be' nonsense. Also has one of those great 'full circle' story lines where everyone is connected/related/whatever, another sign of sterile writing.

    A perfect Kamen Rider movie. Almost dialogue free, from zero to sixty from the start all the way until the end. Amemiya is in full form here, deploying everything from stop-motion to full out tokusatsu brawls. Amemiya doesn't hide his influences, because the villain is an unabashed Predator clone infused with a locust, complete with the three dot reticle and all. Better yet, it's a standalone film that's completely watchable without any Kamen Rider knowledge at all. If only Amemiya and tokusatsu were still this good...
