Culkin’s performance is outstanding but one that ultimately usurps the rest of the film. It feels less like a story of two cousins bonding over their deceased grandmother’s birthplace and instead a niche character study of someone spinning their wheels and struggling with stagnation. Still a fine watch.

Kneecap 2024
An incredible look into the beginnings of the titular hip hop act, boasting the origins of their indigenous language. What comes across as a stoner/rap movie ends up being more politically profound than it tonally lets on. Fantastic pacing, strong performances and a killer soundtrack make for a really incredible biopic that’s not just made for fans of the band. It’s craic!

Late Night with the Devil 2023
This only got better on a rewatch. Unique premise for a captivating horror flick that’s not necessarily overtly scary but creepy and eerily realistic that keeps you on edge as to how it unfolds. Performances are stellar and the homage to late night talk show conventions are exceptionally well done.
