Mickey 17 2025
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
If you hate in your face social commentary with no subtlety, you might not like this movie, and that's a damn shame.
I LOOOOOOOOVE this kinda stuff when it's done well, and thankfully it was!!!! Bong Joon-Ho is in his element here, and I truly hope to see more crazy projects by him in the future, he's such a breath of fresh air in cinema.

These days it can be hard for me to like slashers, either too focused on our awful "protagonists" or just a mess of gore with zero purpose or vision, so this one thoroughly surprised me.
It's dumb, it's campy, it's fun (including the visuals which I felt were a big stand out), what more do you need, really?
Only issues I really had were with the main characters, I just hated nearly all of them and needed them off the screen so I could see more cool moments with the killers.
Really hoping for a sequel, Tim Curry deserves a nice full return to cinema.

Was not expecting such a wonderfully crafted and layered story in this. Like a Snickers or perhaps a jawbreaker.
Started off pretty slow but the visual storytelling grabbed my attention and everything from there had me locked in til the finish. I especially appreciated the attention to detail in the mish mash of modern, decaying, tagged buildings with a church interior. I don't really want to spoil or delve too deep into much especially as I feel the movie speaks it all for itself. The last 10 minutes was oddly very touching and...beautiful? All things considered. Good stuff.
