Three things I liked about Pan’s Labyrinth:
1. The way it harkens back to olden fairy tales. I’ve been reading a collection of Grimm’s fairy tales lately and it’s remarkable how well Guillermo del Toro captures the magic and vibes of these stories while adapting them to modern sensibilities to create something wholly new. It really feels like a book adaptation even though it’s not- which is amazing!
