Bong joon ho had some fun making this. I could see why it is not the biggest box office success, it’s even stranger than I expected. But a lot of fun.
Like his other movies, the social and class commentary is in your face, but with a lot of dark humor this time. The red hats made it a little too obvious this time 😂 I wonder how many Elon Musk interviews Mark Ruffalo watched for this role?

Wow. Honestly the runtime flew by.
The display of the immigrant experience was remarkable. From the cousin who gave up pretty much all of his cultural identity, even his accent, name, and religion, in an attempt to assimilate to a new country, eventually abandoning László and the “old world” at the drop of a hat; to László and Elizabeth, who accepted that they would always be outsiders in this new country and gave up trying to fit in.
