I got serious beef with hypnotism as a plot device (peep Oldboy, Get Out ((did it slightly better)), etc.) idk why maybe it’s because it’s so funny and stupid and is never portrayed in any believable way for me but nonetheless I enjoyed how this played out. The beginning felt very… generic and cliche sort of serial killer mystery, but it really picks up once the villain is introduced, interacts with the detective, and everything spirals into madness.
More to unpack on a second watch, which is always appreciated.
