the type of movie I just know is gonna do dummy numbers on in-flight entertainment systems. entertaining and pretty engaging and kinda smart but a little too sloppy, especially in the execution of the "reveal". No shade on the performances but weak characters made it hard to be all in on the tension. also I appreciate stylistic lighting but the blur/glow effect was more distracting than anything I kept blinking and rubbing my eyes

Insomnia 2002
It's aggressively solid. Didn't grow on me much in the rewatch, but I like how it manages to have consistent tension without being very intriguing tbh. Pacino is good, but about what you'd expect, especially given that he has to spend half the runtime simply appearing exhausted. Swank is good, but limited by her character. Robin Williams is easily the highlight. I also liked the more subtle ways they communicated sleep-deprived delirium and the atmospheric isolation.
It's obviously the least…
