We love a Jersey girl just trying to figure her shit out. I wish it had committed more to the rom-com bits and the relationship between Annie and the Harvard guy. It's charming and sweet when it needs to be, though, and that's due in large part to Scarlett Johansson's performance.
Having a filmmaker like Bong Joon-ho actively make films denouncing capitalism is pretty great on its own. For Mickey 17 to be another intelligent, emotionally resonant hit is icing on the top. It's all incredibly on the nose, but Joon-ho's direction and the performances across the board help lift Mickey 17.
Robert Pattinson absolutely rocks as Mickey 17 and 18. I'm not sure we'll see a more dynamic and interesting performance all year.
