Crimes of Passion 1984
This isn’t a very good movie, but it’s pretty entertaining and worth watching for the unhinged Kathleen Turner and Anthony Perkins performances. Not to mention a truly deranged music video that plays early on that has a ridiculous song. This song plays maybe three times during the film. It’s called “It’s A Lovely Life.” There’s instrumental versions too. I laughed every time it played. Just more insanity from Ken Russell.
On a side note, this came out the same year as Romancing the Stone. Incredible.

Pictures of Ghosts 2023
A nice nostalgic snapshot of Recife, Brazil and the movie theaters, now destroyed, that had an impact on filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Filho. Makes me want to make a documentary about South Hills Cinemas, the Galleria, Destinta, and the Dennis.

Until the End of the World 1991
This movie is 4 hrs and 47 min long. It definitely doesn’t need to be, but it’s a fascinating and sprawling epic set in an analog future. Robby Muller’s cinematography is incredible and some of the set design/location work are bonkers. It’s like a combo of Brazil, Children of Men, Jules and Jim, and every road trip movie/detective story in one. It should be incredible and the ultimate Wim Wenders film, but it’s a bit unwieldy to say the least.…

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning 2023
Just when I thought this movie couldn’t get any better, they threw in a La Bamba reference. Anyways, this is up there with the best in the series. The stuff with the train at the end… just absolutely incredible. Also the airport heist, Rome chase, Venice stuff… really superb action film.
